Rules and Guidlines on Wed Dec 03, 2008 2:12 am

Hi! I am MaxRide101 and I am a moderator here on Golden Stables! Please read the Rules and Guidelines before you start so you know the expectations of this site. Once you do that, you will know how to have fun on this site and you will know what to do! They are:

RULES

*
Golden Stables is mostly forum based. Because of this, please make sure you register to the forum and post an introduction before you begin playing. Any member who doesn't post an introduction within a week of sending in a membership application will be deleted and their horses will be sent to the humane society.
*
Be friendly with all other members in e-mails and in the forum. Do not use rude or derogatory language that may be offensive to anyone who may read it.
* Please be realistic. Your horse cannot be the best at everything in the world, nor can it survive without eating. You can't create a barn without having a piece of property, and your horses need a place to stay. Find a boarding barn if you cannot afford a farm of your own right away.
* You may create two horses initially, but there are no limits on how many horses you can own. There may be times when a Turn of Fate (TOF) allows you to create an extra horse.
* Do not use any real life famous horse names. In Silver Meadow, Funny Cide, Man O' War, and Secratariet do not exist.
* At the present time, only horses and ponies are allowed in the game. Do not create dogs, cats, unicorns, pegusi, zebras, etc. These may be added at a later date.
*
If you aren't going to be around for a while, or would like to quit the game, please post a message in the forum. Horses left without food for a real life month, will be taken by the humane society and sold off. Your tack, supplies, and money will also be donated to the humane society. If you let us know you're leaving for a period of time, we can put your account on hold. If you let us know you are quitting, you have the option of deleting your horses, or giving them to another member.

If you decide to make a web page for this game:

* Please get permission before you use any photographs that you get online.
* Please include a note on every page that you make that it is a part of a simulated game. This is especially important for pages made for businesses.

GUIDELINES

* Starting the game- you start the game when you fill out the "join" form on the next page. You can begin with two created horses or ponies, in which you choose all of the stats. You will start with $200,000 and a karma of 3.
* After you receive your confirmation e-mail, please post a brief introduction on the forum. If we do not hear from you within a week after you are accepted, your horses and money will be taken by the humane society.
* Game time is 1 month our time = 1 year Silver Meadow time. Mares cannot show the month that they are pregnant, nor the first 2 weeks real time after the foal is born without running a severe risk of damaging the foal.
*
Turn of Fate (TOF)- probably the most unique feature of SM. Once a week, a turn of fate will be dished out to a random member. This can either result in something good or something bad. If you are selected to receive a turn of fate, your chance of it being something good will be increased by positive karma, but it will decrease if you have a negative karma. Your TOF can give you a spectacular prize, or it could cause ruin in your stable, but most TOFs will be much less significant.
* Karma- the rating which determines how likely you are to get a particular type of TOF. Because TOFs are currently calculated by rolling a die, your karma will be somewhere between 0 and 6. A karma reading of 3 is neutral, and will give you an even chance of having something good as opposed to something bad. A karma level of 6 will mean that almost all of your TOFs will result in something good, while a karma of O will guarantee that almost all of your your TOF's will result badly. Karma points can be gained by inviting a new member into Silver Meadow, being recognized for being helpful to another member, or donating money to the Silver Meadow Humane Society. Karma points will be lost by being inactive, or breaking a minor rule. After time of not doing anything to create good or bad karma, your karma level will work its way back to neutral.
* Money- There are many ways to get money in Silver Meadow. Check out the jobs page for jobs that are open, or you can always start your own business. In this game, the bank can give you a loan, but as in real life, there is a risk assessment process. Don't let your account go into the negatives then expect to take out a $100,000 loan.
* Breeding- When you want to breed two horses together, post a message on the breeding board with the names of the two horses you want to breed, and if the stallion belongs to someone else, a copy of the stud agreement between you and the stallion's owner. Then, the fate of the breeding will slowly evolve. You will know very quickly whether or not the breeding took, but the gender and color won't be known until the foal is born.
